State of Ohio BWC Drug Free Workplace Program (DFWP)
 


Summary of the three different DFWP Programs:

Do you want to save thousands of dollars on yearly workers’ compensation premiums and receive up to $10,000.00 in State of Ohio Grant Money???

 

          Based on your status you will be able to qualify for one of the three BWC Drug Free Workplace Discount Programs. The savings and incentives are equally generous in each program.

          This is a five-year program that provides grant money and premium discounts. The State of Ohio will match $2.00 for every $3.00 you spend on policy development, supervisor training and employee education up to a maximum of $10,000.00.

          In addition to the grant money each company participating in the DFWP Program will receive a 10% (level one participants) to 15%-20% (level two and up participants) discounted off your yearly premiums for five consecutive years.

The three programs are the following:

  1. Basic DFWP Program: For employers with 26 or more employees. Requires a specific DFWP policy, four hours of supervisor training and two hours of employee training. Every subsequent year (for the next 4 years) you must have two hours of supervisor training and two hours of employee training.

     
  2. EZ DFWP Program: For employers with less than 26 employees. Requires a specific DFWP policy, two hours of supervisor training and one hour of employee training. Every subsequent year (for the next 4 years) you must have one hour of supervisor training and one hour of employee training.

     
  3. DFWP Construction Industry Program: This program is mandatory for all construction company and/or the sub-contractors who want to bid on any State of Ohio contract. It includes all the requirements as outlined above (depending on if you have less than 26 employees or 26 or more employees) PLUS a minimum requirement of 5% yearly random testing.
